Abigail Hines, BMS

Research Coordinator

Abigail Hines graduated from the University of Maryland with an MS and BS in Community Health and a BA in French Language and Literature. She is the senior research assistant for an R21 grant which looks at the intersection of masculinity, HIV treatment, and disclosure in South Africa and assists with the START Together and HEAL Together projects in the lab. As an undergraduate, she worked on a research project under the mentorship of Dr. Kirsten Stoebenau in which she analyzed Demographic and Healthy Survey (DHS) data to explore the prevalence of transactional sex in 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa and what social, behavioral, and cultural factors may contribute to these rates. She hopes to pursue research opportunities in women’s sexual health on the global scale in the future.
