Joi Kenner

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Joi is a sophomore majoring in Community Health and a Federal UMD Fellow. They began working with the Center for Substance Use, Addiction & Health Research (CESAR) as a research assistant on the Khanya project team in the spring of 2024, contributing to research on public health and substance use.

Joi has a background in leading public health initiatives, including serving as the Sierra Leone Team Lead for Public Health Beyond Borders. Their research interests include the relationship between racial background, socioeconomic status, and adolescent sexual behaviors. Additionally, Joi works as a peer health educator with the Prince George's County HIV/STI Outreach Program (CHOP), focusing on HIV education.
